Plains Indian Encampment

Plains Indian Encampment

The Indian Center's Plains Indians Encampment is an exhibit that portrays an accurate replica of 1850's Plains Indian life.

The American Indian Plains Indians Encampment is an important addition to the Mid-America All-Indian Center complex. It represents the hard work of individuals from tribal elders to concerned citizens, all wishing to preserve the culture and history of the American Indian people.

As you walk the paths of Plains Indians Encampment, the sounds of the Big and Little Arkansas Rivers flowing to either side and the prairie wind rustling through the trees overhead, you can catch a glimpse of what village life was like for the people who first lived in this area - the Kiowa, the Cheyenne, the Wichita, and the Sioux.
